If you have the time and inclination, could you post a few words about how you make the decision to stop reading a book? My #1 reading goal for 2013 is to read all my "shelf sitters", some of which were given to me as gifts and aren't up my usual alley. I have the worst time giving myself permission to not finish a book.
Right now I'm halfway through a Romance that is the first of a series and has many devoted fans, and I'm just meh about it. It's not poorly written at all; I'm just not feeling connected to the story. I skimmed ahead and am not feeling enthused to read the upcoming scenes. But I can't shake the feeling that if I set it aside I'll miss something in the second half of the book that will make me love and appreciate it the way others seem to.
My own personal head-cake. But I'd love to hear your take on it.
